lee@southshore-pt.comCompassionate, optimistic, attentive, selfless, supportive … these are just a few of the words the staff members at Southshore Physical Therapy use to describe their fearless “Lee-der.” With more than twenty years of experience in the Greater New Orleans area, Lee is a graduate of Louisiana State University Medical Center where he received his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy as well as the University of New Orleans where he earned his undergraduate degree. In addition to serving patients ranging from grade school students to senior citizens, Lee is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and has worked one-on-one with professional NFL athletes as well as collegiate competitors and organizations such as the University of New Orleans Privateers and numerous high school programs around the city. A married father of three, Lee says his main goal at Southshore Physical Therapy is “to run the best possible business … where people love coming to work and patients love coming to visit.” From testing an athlete on the dynamometer to folding the never-ending pile of gym towels every day, Lee believes everyone should jump in wherever they’re needed. “It’s all hands on deck around here.”

Jessica Trosclair Couret, RN, BSN

She attended the University of New Orleans and Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. After completing her state boards to become a registered nurse, Jessica worked in critical care with Ochsner Health Systems in the heart transplant CCU unit. Following the launch of the new business with her husband in 2003, she put her career on hold to help build the clinic from the ground up. One (painstakingly involved) office relocation, three kids and countless happy, healthy patients later, Jessica runs a tight ship at Southshore Physical Therapy to make sure your experience is nothing but smooth sailing.

A married mother of two, Michele enjoys musical theater (you can find her on a local stage with her daughter here and there) and plays the piano and guitar. With a B.A. in journalism from Louisiana State University and an M.A. in arts administration from the University of New Orleans, Michele also serves as our in-house copywriter. Led by Brooke and her fellow captains, this exceptional group of athletes won Dominican’s first-ever state championship title for the Division I Louisiana High School Athletic Association in 2020. In 2021, they made it back-to-back championships by going home with the distinction again. Not surprisingly, her favorite quote is “You can do anything you set your mind to.” Way to be your own lighthouse, Brooke!

Madison Trauth
Physical Therapy Technician
As set forth by screen legend Audrey Hepburn, “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible.’” This famous adage represents words to live by says Madison, an LSU student majoring in kinesiology with plans to attend graduate school for physical therapy at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. With a daily commitment to physical fitness, she likes to spend at least two days of each week exercising outdoors in the nice New Orleans weather. In her free time, Madison enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, playing soccer, watching Bridgerton and caring for her Siberian Husky and her Lionhead Rabbit. While getting her sea legs at Southshore, she said she couldn’t help but notice how much fun the staff members have together and loves seeing the patients match their energy.

Emily Meyer

Coming to us all the way from Florida International University in Miami, Emily is pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in rehabilitation and recreational therapy. With future plans to set sail for graduate school in physical therapy, her favorite quote is “Be the energy you want to attract.” So, it’s no surprise that she enjoys working and learning about her chosen field at Southshore where she says she really appreciates the feeling of community and being part of our family. A New Orleans native who graduated from Mount Carmel Academy, Emily enjoys spending time with her friends and family as well as playing on the FIU beach volleyball team. Another patient-turned-crew-member, Vejon first came to us six years ago with an athletic injury from his years on the Brother Martin High School football and basketball teams. Following graduation, he attended Houston Baptist University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology: Wellness Management. With plans to become a physical therapist in the future, Vejon is certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as a personal trainer. Sarah Wild

In addition to Pilates classes and her daily workouts, Sarah enjoys cooking and spending time at the pool. She loves her co-workers … and that there is always a scented candle burning at the clinic.

Bailey Couret
Office Assistant
As the youngest member of our team, Bailey Couret (there’s that name again!) was born in Room 242 at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana. (We’ll take your word for it, Bailey.) She currently attends Dominican High School where she is a member of the varsity teams for tennis and volleyball. An accomplished taco-making-ologist, her future plans include pursuing a degree in kinesiology to follow the career path of her father in becoming a physical therapist. Living life by the famous words of Walt Whitman (“Do anything, but let it produce joy”), she hopes one day to have a big family and drop anchor in Australia so she can cultivate the native accent. And speaking of joy, she says her favorite things in the world are her dogs (Beignet and Sugah) and her siblings … in that order.

Carmen Wetzel
Physical Therapy Technician
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Carmen’s favorite quote from Jeremiah 29:11 is reflected perfectly in what lies ahead for her academically and professionally. Entering Louisiana State University as a freshman this fall, she hopes to attend graduate school in physical therapy following the completion of her bachelor’s degree. A graduate of Archbishop Chapelle High School, Carmen enjoys staying active and being outside to play volleyball or go for a run as much as possible. So, it’s no surprise that summer is her favorite season. When asked what she has liked best since jumping aboard at Southshore, she says she loves how welcoming the staff is … and that everyone has a sense of humor!
